Service Description

Private lessons are currently being offered with the choice of either voice, violin, or piano. The paragraphs below describe each category as they would be presented. Voice: Students that participate will learn pitch matching, rhythm, note reading, and develop their vocal tone. Whether they gravitate towards classical or contemporary technique, students will also learn how to expand their music portfolio and become well-rounded musicians. To further their experience, they will also have the option to learn how vocalists function on a worship team and what can be expected from them as they apply their vocal skills to an ensemble. Violin: Students will receive a classical violin education from the Suzuki method books and develop their understanding of instrument care, pitch matching, rhythm, note reading, and solo playing. While students are taught to master the skills on the violin, they will also be taught how to be confident, well-rounded musicians, and will also get a chance to discuss ensemble playing, along with what opportunities are available for different ensembles, such as playing in an orchestra, chamber ensemble, or worship team. Piano: Students will learn classically based piano techniques from various method books and master the skills of note reading, rhythm, and basic music theory. While students will have the opportunity to learn both classical piano pieces and contemporary arrangements, they will also have the opportunity to learn the difference between modern keyboard playing and classical piano playing. They will be able to learn how to manage piano accompaniments and also learn improvisation. Lastly, students will also have the option to see how keyboard playing is incorporated into a contemporary worship team setting.
